Herbal Oasis - Body Care with Nature in Mind

Not all raw materials are processed equally! I take care to research the properties of each raw material. In addition, I also research the source and processing of each material to ensure that you are not only receiving the highest possible quality in the finished product, but the maximum healing benefits as well.

Absolutes - Like an essential oil in that the compounds are from plants but a solvent is used instead of water to do the extraction. In most cases the solvent used is hexane, a highly toxic substance. I only buy oils in which the solvent used is grain alcohol.

Aloe Vera Gel (Whole Leaf) - Organic - Healing & moisturizing to skin and hair. Effective in treating burns, bites, and other skin irritations. Food grade.

Arrowroot Powder - Organic - The dried root of the arrowroot plant. Used for thickening. Food Grade.

Beeswax - Beeswax has emollient, soothing and softening properties and helps the skin retain moisture (humectant). It has anti-bacterial properties and also contains vitamin A, which is essential for human cell development. Throughout time, people have used it as an antiseptic and for healing wounds.

Bentonite Clay - A combination of montmorillonite and volcanic ash, it is highly absorbent and that pulls oils and toxins from the skin.

Calendula - Most recognized for its ability to help heal wounds, ulcers and abrasions.

Chamomile Floral Water - Mixture of distilled water and essential oil.

Cocoa Butter - Organic & Fair Trade - An aromatic solid butter pressed from the roasted seeds of the Cacao tree (Theobroma cacao). It has been used for centuries in Africa for its moisturizing and healing properties. Helps reduce skin dryness and improves skin elasticity. Expeller pressed. Unrefined.

Coconut Oil (Fractionated) – Also know as Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride. This version has virtually no scent. It’s a light, non-greasy, non-staining oil with an indefinite shelf life. A very good choice for use with therapeutic essential oils, as it helps effectively carry these oils deeper into the tissue. Expeller pressed. Fractionated by steam distillation. Food grade.

Coconut Oil - Organic Virgin - Moisturizes and protects skin & hair, has anti-fungal & antiseptic properties and has a high Vitamin E content. In countries where it is produced, it is a food source and has been found to be the best source of monolaurin, a well known antiseptic substance found in breast milk. Has a lovely coconut scent. Expeller pressed. Unrefined.

Coffee - Organic - A great exfoliator. Also a great wake up as some caffeine goes in through the skin.

Dendritic Salt - Sodium chloride. Softens water.

Epsom Salt - Known for its ability to ease pain and muscular tension. Helps to reduce swelling, relax the nervous system and eliminate toxins from the body.

Essential Oils - Usually obtained by steam distillation of the flowers, bark, roots or leaves of the chosen plant, essential oils are full of beneficial nutrients, healing properties and are used as the basis for aromatherapy. One of the bonuses of using these oils is that they leave no toxic residue behind in the body. So, you reap all the benefits with none of the side effects common after using other methods of symptom relief (pharmaceuticals). Essential oils are still highly potent substances and are used with caution. They can still have some side effects as with any herb but not to the same level as herbs that are ingested. I use all therapeutic grade essentials oils, which means they are medicinal level and come from the first distillation of the plant retaining all the beneficial healing properties (as opposed to a 3rd, 4th or 5th distillation which is typically aromatic but has little benefit (called aromatherapy grade)).

Evening Primrose Essential Oil - High in the essential fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). Has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which supports anti-aging and reduces skin redness. Good for skin irritations including Eczema.

Glycerine (99.7% USP) - Humectant (helps skin retain moisture). From palm kernal & coconut. Food Grade. Kosher.

Grapefruit Seed Extract - Anti-bacterial & preservative in a glycerine base. Biodegradable. Paraben & Triclosan free.

Jojoba Beads - A very gentle exfoliant with a round surface area so as not to damage the thinner and more delicate skin on the face.

Jojoba Oil – Organic - Pressed and filtered from the seeds of a desert shrub, it is actually a liquid wax. It is most similar to the sebum produced by our own body making it a useful equalizing tool for overly dry or oily skin, including the scalp. Good for all skin types. Expeller pressed. Unrefined.

Kaolin Clay (white) - Kaolinite, the mildest of all clays. Gently cleans, increases circulation and removes toxins from the skin.

Kaolin Clay (pink) - Kaolinite, Iron, Illite, Montmorillonite and Calcite very mild clay. Gently cleans, increases circulation and removes toxins and oils from the skin. Helpful for broken capillaries.

Meadowfoam Oil – This herbaceous winter annual plant is native to the pacific Northwest area of the United States. It is said to moisturize the skin and hair better than most oils, and it helps prevent moisture loss. It has a very high fatty acid count and is one of the most stable lipids known giving it an indefinite shelf life. Expeller pressed.

Neem Extract - Anti-bacterial and highly beneficial for skin irritations such as rashes, psoriasis, eczema and acne.

Oats Extract - Anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory. Helpful for skin irritations such as acne, eczema, dermatitis, shingles and rosacea.

Sea Salt - From the Great Salt Lake in Utah. Contains minerals that help to draw toxins from the skin. Eases muscular tension.

Shea Butter – Organic - A semi-solid wax pressed from the nuts of the Karite tree in Africa. It’s high in Vitamin E and has a natural sun protection factor of 8. Useful in healing and protecting the skin. Expeller pressed. Refined (bleached & deodorized with steam & clay).

Sugar - Organic & Fair Trade - Made using 100% pure cane sugar, retaining the natural molasses found in the sugar crystals.

Sunflower Oil (high oleic) - Organic - Moisturizing. High Vitamin E content (anti-oxidant). Highly stable. Expeller pressed. Non-GMO. Refined (bleached with steam, deodorized with diatamaceous earth). Food Grade.

Vegetable Alcohol – Alcohol made from fermented vegetables instead of petroleum (isopropyl alchol - extremely drying). Better for the environment and for your body. Non-drying.

Vitamin E (7500 IU) - A powerful anti-oxidant, it protects cellular structures against damage from free radicals. It acts as a free radical scavenger to prevent the byproducts of chemical-cell interaction that causes cell damage. Repairs, heals and protects the skin. Unrefined, food grade, kosher and certified GMO free (from soy).

Water - Distilled - In body care, water is the enemy - a harborer of bacterias, molds and other contaminants and therefore crucial that it be as pure as possible.

Witch Hazel – Made from the bark and leaves of the tree with the same name. Has astringent properties and cleans the skin, removing excess dirt after washing. Also tones the skin. Great for acne, bug bites, swelling, inflammation, razor burn and tightening of the pores. Low grain-alcohol content of 14% as compared to 40-50% in most off the shelf brands.
